the girl & the fig – Sonoma, CA

girl and the fig

Seasonal Provencçal-inspired cuisine http://www.thegirlandthefig.com/html-sonoma/index.html 110 West Spain St. – SONOMA By the time we ate at the Girl & the Fig, we had eaten a ridiculous number of fantastic meals. By this point we were +8lbs and had every fresh local protein available from sardines to pork, twice. This place was just as good as the others, but the atmosphere was a tad lame and the tables were too tight. Sadly we sat next to … Continue reading

Poggio – Sausalito, CA

Poggio Sausalito

Seasonal Italian Cuisine http://www.poggiotrattoria.com/ 777 Bridgeway at the Casa Madrona Hotel – Sausalito This was our first dinner out in Marin County, CA. We were FLABBERGASTED at the low price!! We really ate quite a bit of food at Poggio. It was a very busy spot and we had to wait even for our reserved table, but it was totally worth it. Our favorite was the bruschetta with housecured sardines, artichoke and wild nettle pesto. … Continue reading

Aziza – San Francisco, CA

Aziza

Aziza is a Michelin Star restaurant who’s concept was created by Moroccan born chef Mourad Lahlou.  He learned to make his native dishes with local California cuisine and the result is genius. We loved the menu presentation at Aziza. Every dish simply lists the key ingredient. This formula even works for the cocktail menu we sampled at the bar first: Cocktails – muddled herbs, spices, vegetables, fruits cilantro kaffir-lime, vodka basil lisbon lemon, basil seeds, … Continue reading

Bottega – Napa, CA

Bottega Napa

I would highly recommend Michael Chiarello’s new restaurant in Napa. The atmosphere is all about ‘having fun’, I think a gimmick they are pushing to compete with French Laundry and Bouchon across the street. It worked for us! We felt the food was delicious and reasonably priced. We had apps, a bottle of wine and even ended with limoncello for far less than we ever would in NYC. Standouts: House cured Prosciutto served with parmesan … Continue reading

RN74 – San Francisco, CA

RN74

RN74 is one of many Michael Mina restaurants in the US. We were not familiar, as he does not have a New York restaurant. We chose to try this one over his namesake restaurant primarily because this one seemed to have a more casual atmosphere. It turns out RN74 is the name of the interstate highway of Burgundy, France. Which means the menu was the wines of burgundy only. This is a great thing, of … Continue reading
