The Hat Shop

http://www.thehatshopnyc.com/ 120 Thompson St. – SoHo This is a unique millenary shop carrying custom hats for men and women as well as some knitwear. We bought a killer fedora for Steve. Everything is made in Brooklyn. This is a dying breed of shops. This owner is the adorable British lady in the photo. She is super funky and fun. The place is pricey, no doubt, but the hats are stunning. … Continue reading

Baby Blue Line

Baby Blue Line

I discovered this shop after I got my hair cut at Belissimo on Mott.  My stylist Fredi has been cutting my hair in random friends’ salons while he’s between gigs.  This time it landed me right in front of my new favorite boutique.  The windows drew me in where I discovered a great assortment of tops, tunics and dresses.  I grabbed a card and said I’d be back. Since I’d seen the shop I was … Continue reading

The End of History

The End of History

This shop is a favorite of mine, but then I am partial to anything mid-century modern! They have a huge collection of vintage hand-blown glass vases/vessels and lamps. So many the store is completely arranged by color story. I should add that everything is on furniture from the period which is also for sale. They had an 8 page feature in Martha Stewart Living this month which they were displaying in the store. Beautiful.  See … Continue reading

By Boe – CLOSED

http://www.byboe.com 172 Prince St. – SoHo This has long been a favorite jewelry shop of mine. It’s extremely reasonably priced vermeil (gold plate over sterling) jewelry. For those of you who know me, my leather stackable rings are from this place (were $15, now $18). They recently made a few new additions to the stackable collection. I just picked up a couple of the bow rings today to add to my rainbow. Plus a turq … Continue reading

Global Table

Global Table

Global Table is an old favorite of mine. It’s a small Soho boutique specializing in tabletop and home accessories. It’s a veritable treasure trove of cool stuff. We went out on Black Friday to support local business. The little shops of Soho were dead and there were lines 50 deep in Banana Republic for 40% everything before noon. Sad. I’ve purchased gorgeous glass candle holders here as well as fine crystal jars.  They focus primarily … Continue reading

Maryam Nassir Zadeh

I discovered Maryam Nassir Zadeh, this fantastic shop on the Lower East Side this past summer. I bought a really unique rubber and metal link ring that I covet. But when I was there I fell in love with these GENIUS necklaces made of nylon mesh and filled with hundreds of Swarovski crystals. Since I was formerly in the costume jewelry business, I must say it is not very often that I am impressed by … Continue reading
