db Bistro Moderne – Miami

db bistro moderne

Our last stop in Miami was to a New York classic – Daniel Boulud’s db Bistro Moderne. So does this count as Miami or New York if it is a chain?  We’ll have to head uptown and try db Bistro Moderne to find out!  Or not.  For those of you who read our disappointing write up on Boulud Sud, you’ll know we are in no rush to hit another Danielle restaurant uptown. Nor were we … Continue reading

Tiny’s Tribeca

We went to Tiny’s Tribeca twice prior to posting a review. I had begun writing, but never added the photos. My impression changed slightly after a meal and I was able to take some of my own pics, so it was good I waited.  We’ve now been back a third time and started frequenting another bar owned by the same group called Smith & Mills, also in Tribeca. 10/19/2011 Tiny’s is a new bi-level restaurant/bar in … Continue reading

Blue Ribbon Bakery Kitchen – CLOSED

Blue Ribbon Bakery

Blue Ribbon is  a rather large and growing restaurant group run by Eric & Bruce Bromberg since 1992.  The restaurant concepts within the group vary from casual dining to high end sushi.  Each space has a unique vibe, but all are warm and welcoming, particularly Blue Ribbon Bakery Kitchen. The basement of Blue Ribbon Bakery Kitchen houses a restored 135 year old brick oven which is used to bake all the bread served at the … Continue reading

Shake Shack, Battery Park City

Battery Park is now a mini-Danny Meyer Empire, complete with Shake Shack, Blue Smoke and North End Grill.  Shake Shack was the first to arrive Memorial Day weekend of 2011. I am proud to say we’ve only succumbed to the food 3-4 times in that year!  Our first time was the Best Burgers in NYC Smackdown.  We had not previously gone to a Shake Shack because of our extreme aversion to waiting in line for … Continue reading

Social Eatz – CLOSED

Cheap Eats, Asian Fusion, Notable Chef, Burgers http://socialeatz.com/ 232 East 53rd St – Midtown East Social Eatz is a moderately priced Asian Fusion/Comfort Food eatery owned by Top Chef contestant Angelo Sosa.  They recently won Eater’s Top Burger in America with the Bi Bim Bop Burger. The decor was pleasant.  The space was well laid out for a small space.  Tables had long padded benches and it had a nice-sized bar. But Sosa’s spot was … Continue reading

Minetta Tavern

Minetta Tavern

We have waited a ridiculous amount of time to go to Minetta Tavern.  That is thanks to their former reservation system or lack thereof.  Now that they’ve automated to Open Table, reservations are a breeze.  And we’ll be going there more often.  The atmosphere was great.  It had a Waverly Inn type vibe in the back room with all of its original artwork.  The food was fantastic and really not over-priced.  One might argue about … Continue reading
